Alabama Cities for Booking Records

Ten Alabama cities have populations over 50,000. Most of these cities do not run their own jails. City police make arrests, then transport people to the county jail for booking. This means most city arrest records are kept at the county level.

Four cities are different. Birmingham, Montgomery, Hoover, and Dothan each have their own city jail facilities. These cities may book and hold people before transferring them to the county. If you need booking records from these cities, check both the city jail and the county jail.
